OPCD AED Registry About Page
The Orleans Parish Communication District (New Orleans 911/311) is the single emergency communication center responsible for the processing and management of emergency incidents and the 3-1-1 system for the City of New Orleans. In partnership with New Orleans Emergency Medical Services and the New Orleans Health Department, the New Orleans AED Registry provides free comprehensive management solutions to ensure AEDs are available when they are needed the most.
Louisiana Revised Statutes – 40:1137.3 states, any person or entity that possesses an AED shall notify a local provider of emergency medical services, such as a 911 service, local ambulance service, or fire department of the acquisition, location, and type of AED. Using this registry will ensure your organization's compliance with the law.
AED acquisitions for workplaces, homes, schools, places of worship and business establishments are a critical investment that provides essential life-saving intervention during a cardiac event. Using the OPCD AED Registry will allow AED owners and managers to manage their AED readiness and provide a peace of mind that AEDs are accounted for and ready for use when needed.
Organizations registering their AEDs get the following free benefits:
- Online management of AED location and maintenance information
- AED battery and electrode date expiration email reminders
- Faster AED notifications from manufacturer and government agencies
- AED and SCA awareness-building materials
Should you need AED and CPR training, New Orleans EMS provides these services at no cost. Please contact Lt. Jonathan Fourcade at 504-658-2907 for more information.
